Reading this my thoughts ran to market power and how producers with significant market power can guarantee minimum pricing (I'm thinking something like retail Windows XP pricing). Would agreements of guaranteed minimum sales price increase profits to companies with powerful brands regardless of market power? I think perhaps profits increase for name brands and fall for everyone else.
